A Special Tech Session on “Innovation and R&D : Key to Development”

Professor Mustafizur Rahman, a very renowned and respected teacher and a highly visible researcher in the areas of micro/nano machining from National University of Singapore came to DataSoft to take a Special Tech Session on” Innovation and R&D : Key to Development” today evening. Throughout the session Professor inspired us to think more, work further, and go beyond the box and depicted us with real time examples that how it will lead to innovation and sustainable development. During the session he presented some of his latest research works i.e. Hybrid simultaneous EDM/ECM, Ductile mode machining of brittle materials, Machining of free form features based on Digital Images etc. and shared invaluable experiences from his life and 35 years of work with us.
Dr. Mustafizur has received William Jonson Gold Medal for Life Time Achievement in Material Processing Research and Teaching in 2009, the Leading Edge Manufacturing Achievement Award from the JSME in 2005, and IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award in 2003, A M Strickland Prize from IMechE in 2009. He has authored more than 480 journal and conference papers. He is in the editorial board for 11 International Journals.

Currently, he is also a director of a NUS spin-off company, Mikrotools Pte Ltd. (www.mikrotools.com) which produces machine tools for micro and nano machining.
