BASIS and BCC holds a Seminar on Expansion of Domestic IT Companies to Japan
The ICT market in Japan holds great promise for Bangladeshi IT companies. To address this opportunity and determine the scopes in this sector a seminar in the Bangladesh Computer Council’s Meeting Room was held on Sunday, 27th December. BCC and BASIS jointly organized the event.
BASIS has been working last few years to expand Bangladeshi IT companies’ business in Japan and to bring investment from Japan. B2B matchmaking events were organized in both Bangladesh and Japan between leading IT companies of both the nations. Also last few years Bangladeshi companies are attending the Japan IT week, Tokyo Big Sight regularly.
In this seminar top executives from Japan, Bangladeshi IT professionals working in Japan and around 40 BASIS member companies took part.
S M Ashraful Islam, ED, BCC chaired the event and Mr. Sami Ahmed ED, BASIS moderated the seminar. Mr. M. Rashidul Hasan, Vice President, BASIS and Mr. Uttam Kumar Paul, Secteretary General, BASIS also spoke in this event. Mr. Mahboob Zaman, former President of BASIS and Managing Director of DataSoft Systems Bangladesh Limited also spoke in this seminar.
Speakers talked and planned about the expansion of trade and investment with the goal of highlighting the importance of public-private partnership. They talked about the Japanese IT companies willing to invest in the country and really interested in the potential of Bangladesh’s IT industry. According to some speakers most of the companies or investors are not well informed about our IT industry. There exists a knowledge gap regarding the capacity of Bangladeshi IT industry prevalent in the minds of majority of Japanese companies and investors. Therefore more emphasis should be given in the country branding for Bangladesh in Japan.
Speakers concluded that mutual cooperation between the two countries will reinforce further expansion of IT trade and investment.
