The future of infrastructure is automation. While Bangladesh has
made great leaps in public infrastructure – with over $10 billion required
every year to fuel high economic growth, critical functions remain inefficient
and vulnerable due to manual processes. Infrastructure automation is the
primary means of overcoming the perpetual challenges of cost management,
improving data security and changing global trends in commerce & trade. Faster
adoption of infrastructure automation will be the key determinant of upscaling
industries and accelerating economic progress in the years ahead.
With the CTMS project, DataSoft NEXT has transformed Chittagong
Port Authority (the largest sea-port in Bangladesh) into an automated
infrastructure by exponentially increasing the port’s container management
capacity by nearly 200% in under ten years. Automation has reduced
human-related disruptions in operations significantly and improved performance
predictability.

At this digital age, everything needs to be efficient and fast - from application release cycles to customer service to managing incidents and other internal support issues. Infrastructure automation is driven by the following catalysts:
Scalable infrastructure automation is driving the evolution of software development. Those using Infrastructure Automation solutions, like- to automate the provisioning and decommissioning of cloud environments have a significant advantage over their competitors in gaining efficiency, accelerating quality release times, and lowering operating costs. IT infrastructure automation tools (software) can control IT elements including servers, storage, network elements, and operating systems (OS), with the goal of improving efficiency of IT operations and staff, with the goal of hands-off operation in most environments including both cloud and on-premises elements of hybrid IT environments. Cloud infrastructure automation tools greatly improve efficiency and speed of workload deployments and can help reduce costs by terminating unused virtual machines (VMs) and reclaim unneeded storage.

Digital disruption is generally followed after a digital innovation,
such as big data, machine learning (ML), internet of things (IoT) or the Bring
Your Own Device (BYOD) movement. Digital innovation then affects how customer
expectations and behaviors evolve, causing organizations to shift how they
create products and services, produce marketing material and evaluate feedback.
This shift in digital strategy can occur on an individual, organizational,
industrial or societal level.
Digital disruption isn’t necessarily caused by new technologies directly, Technology, Behavior and market demands, Innovation, Ecosystem (Economic, regulatory, geopolitical, social changes, and natural disasters like the pandemic) can cause digital disruption because they generate other needs. Generally, it’s not just one factor that causes digital disruption, but many circumstances together. Bangladesh has seized the opportunity presented by the shifting global order, as the country has made tremendous progress in building a strong ecosystem of startups and growing enterprises dabbling in innovative technologies, despite being a relatively late participant in the field of IT outsourcing and BPOs. We regard this as a well-timed decision that avoids competing in overcrowded markets with constant pricing pressure. Instead, the plan is to jump into whitespaces where the country's IT industry may see endless growth and favorable branding.
Software development is strongly related to digital disruption, no doubt
about it. In fact, software is the key in facing digital disruption. Software
tends to change at a breakneck pace, opening doors to possibilities for which
technology hadn’t even been ready yet.
Telehealth services deployed to marginalized communities
Currently only 40% of our population receives some kind of state medical care with qualified health workers who are concentrated in urban secondary and tertiary hospitals. This makes it very difficult for the 70% of the population, who lives in rural area, to access quality medical care. In response to this social challenge the mission of Teledaktar, a telemedicine platform created by team DataSoft NEXT, is to provide free quality medical services to the poor and ultra-poor community who lives in rural and remote regions of Bangladesh. Our product has thus far enabled the provision of healthcare consultation services for nearly 12,800 patients.
“Teledaktar” provides “tele-medicine” services through remote delivery which includes health assessments or consultations over internet communications. This communication allows healthcare providers to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients using common technology, such as video conferencing, without the need for an in person visit. Clients (especially women) are able to connect via video portal with qualified female doctors based in the capital city of Dhaka. After the initial consultation a personalized prescription is automatically printed out for the patients to purchase any required medicines from a local pharmacy. Another important part of the telemedicine service is to record the medical history of the patients in digital files which can be provided to the patients free of cost when requested if further treatment becomes necessary. Teledaktar service is in very high demand in rural areas as it allows the patients to access high quality medical services without the travel time and expense. So far having served almost 13,000 patients, among which over 9000 are women, the technology that we developed enables the capacity to process over 700 patient consultations per doctor per month (factoring in the average of 6 minutes required for thorough patient consultation).
Teledaktar Platform in Action
Imagine a rural Bangladesh where telemedicine is within the reach of each and every person whenever the need arises. That is our aim and that is what we are working towards through our digital healthcare platform. We at DataSoft NEXT want to further boost our reach to patients who are poor and also those residing in rural areas. By partnering with diagnostic centers and pharmacies, Teledaktar can enable provision of prescribed medication and discounted medical test facilities at lower cost, due to discounts set under terms of partnership. We aim to digitalize the healthcare system that serves people who are not financially stable but in truly need of healthcare services.
Fintech has revolutionized the existing system and essentially made them better. From efficient server management to money transfers or be it intuitive management systems or faster transaction, Fintech has them delivered. In an emerging country like Bangladesh, where most people and small businesses do not fully participate in the formal financial system, Fintech has changed that landscape. Fintech’s benefits include creating opportunities for financial access, developing KYC (Know Your Customer), increased efficiency and cost reduction, wider reach of customers and many more.
The fusion of finance and technology is exactly what an emerging economic country like Bangladesh needs to strengthen its position as a developing nation. The Covid-19 situation exposed the limitations of localized digital ecosystems in a linked global economy, necessitating new governmental measures to mitigate the crisis's effects on local FinTech and the growth of digital finance innovations.
Besides Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and blockchain, technologies such as robotic process automation, natural language processing, or cloud computing also stand out as having an important role in fintech innovation. And without software, almost none of them can be implemented in reality.

Rural inclusion to financial services is already a dear project close to heart, here at DataSoft NEXT. In the future, we see ourselves contributing more to financial inclusion of rural societies by helping transfer funds from abroad to rural seamlessly and vice-versa. We want to help create efficient disbursement safety net schemes that will contribute to direct positive impact on rural society. Despite a lot of loud discussions about financial inclusion in Bangladesh, we all can agree that women, marginal farmers and informal sector enterprises are affected most in this case. In the future with our financial inclusion focused products, we will strive in boosting beneficiary reach.

Did you know the number of agent bank accounts in Bangladesh has grown with a 77.68% CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) in 2020, when the full fledged agent banking system had started in only 2016? Currently 28 banks in Bangladesh hold licenses for Agent banking and 27 are active in serving agent banking operations. This special banking system’s primary goal was to boost the financial inclusion growth in the country and it’s safe to say that it has proven to be widely successful so far with 85% of the agent banking accounts originating from the unbanked people of rural areas. Agent banking is primarily supported by IT-enabled systems. Traditional banks have dedicated cyber security divisions, but the Agents lack the necessary competence to ensure that monetary transaction system is secure. Hackers can easily exploit this vulnerability to rob these agent bankers. That is where, our company shines in; creating a sophisticated IT infrastructure where customer’s money is secure with layers of added security.

Fintech has enormous potential for growth, innovation, and cost savings. There are lots of untapped opportunities in Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s financial markets where stocks, bonds, etc. are sold could see a significant transformation by leveraging Fintech. Starting from financial advisory, domestic and international online trading platforms to using technology to improve regulation in stock exchanges, the potential for Fintech in Bangladesh is massive. With the implementation of big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and other supportive technologies like RegTech, the financial markets will work more efficiently and securely. We look forward to help creating accessible and affordable consumer credit products such as peer-to-peer (P2P) lending platforms, crowdfunding platforms, and alternative credit scoring apps to help Bangladesh achieve SDG goals by giving access to financial services to the mass population.
Given the rapid advances in technology, it is vital to ensure that a company’s website is a living and breathing entity. It should offer multi-platform functionality and content - and provide optimum productivity/profitability. Companies rely on web-enabled applications to facilitate the smooth-running of their sites which may include an e-Commerce or line-of-business function, Enterprise Resource Planning and Customer Relations Management.
At its core, the digital era is all about speed. Technology-enabled services are driven by customer demand for a better delivery model. These services are more capital efficient than their traditional delivery model counterparts. With Technology-enabled services, customers do not have to shell out capital to make up-front purchases of hardware and software to set up an in-house version of the service. Rather, the customer pays to access the service offering as the service is consumed over time. It is faster for a customer to implement a technology-enabled service than to implement in a traditional hardware or on premise software implementation. These services are typically easier, cheaper and faster to configure than their in-premise counterparts.

Businesses are meant to be smart and efficient for the sake of their clients and customers. Smart firms are high-tech, and they leverage technology to automate tasks alongside their existing infrastructure. Internal systems of a smart firm interact with one another to increase efficiency and improve present working practices. If today's organizations do not embrace the changes, innovation, and disruption that new technological breakthroughs bring, they will not survive the competition in the smart future that awaits all of us. As we live in a world where a growing number of devices can send data back for analysis, each decision plays a part in shaping the technology of tomorrow. No matter how big or small a company is, the power of new technology can be harnessed to move them towards a cleaner, more profitable, more efficient, and more personalized way of conducting business.
A “smart business” is one that looks at the competitive landscape they operate in and figure out new ways to stay ahead. They explore new business models by enhancing existing ones or even creating new ideas.
The world is full of what we call “regular” businesses. Most companies that you encounter are regular businesses. Smart software foundations are what sets “Smart” businesses apart from “regular” ones. An essential component in running an efficient and profitable business is the suite of software solutions that companies are using. The demand is ever increasing for streamlined operations, single-user sign-on and mission-critical systems. Companies use information technology to manage the processes and often face the requirement of sophisticated controls and standards. Software is basically the backbone of a smart business, let it be in operations, manufacturing or customer relations of a business.

Since the invention of Computer, the world has changed drastically. And the second wave of that change was brought by the invention of Smartphones. These tiny boxes that we carry around with us everyday are essentially pocket computers, and we cannot imagine our life for even a single day without these. Almost all computer functions and capabilities are now available on a tiny smart phone. The applications on a smartphone are one of the most important things in assisting individuals in making their lives easier. Because of the widespread use of smartphones, the number of app developers is steadily expanding.
The biggest catalyst that is fueling the mobile app sector in Bangladesh in mobile internet. 5G internet is almost upon us, as the infrastructure of the tech is being setup across the country. 4G mobile broadband coverage, which now reaches 95 per cent of the population, is the dominant form of mobile technology. However there is still lag between the 4G coverage and its usage, because only 28 percent of total mobile connection accounts for 4G in Bangladesh. The mobile app sector is rapidly moving towards an advanced stage as more and more local IT and Tech companies are developing sophisticated mobile apps for both home and abroad.
Mobile apps are essentially software. Application software may serve a specific or multiple purposes including education, lifestyle, social media, productivity, entertainment and games. App developers and software programmers are responsible for the creation and development of these apps; with developers focusing on the app design, user experience and features, whereas programmers sourcing and introducing the right codes and ensuring quality standard.
4.76 crore people, amounted to only 28.8 percent of the population are internet users in Bangladesh. Internet inclusion is one of the primary barriers towards the development of mobile app sector in Bangladesh. Even though our country’s software engineers and app developers are more than qualified, much of our country’s mobile application needs are outsourced from firms abroad.
Bangladesh’s smartphone application industry is on the rise. Having worked with major international brands and NGOs, DataSoft is one of the major contributors of this industry. The Leprosy Disease Tracker app was developed by DataSoft for World Health Organization to keep track of Leprosy patients and take inputs from medical representatives. By working with influential companies in their respective sectors like Hitachi, Maruboshi and Metlife, DataSoft has a diverse portfolio with wide experience in developing mobile apps.
The app was specifically designed to be used in leprosy hospital and on-field health workers.
The app was designed and developed to get rid of paper forms and replace them with digital forms, reducing human error as well as help boost policy sale by 5 times the average amount.
JCH - HVAC Automation
The app was specifically designed to solve the problem to control, monitor and utilize industrialized HVAC AC system from remotely anywhere, at anytime. The app has two modes for users; Operator Mode and Installer Mode. The following features are most prominent on this solution:
Big data is the collection of dataset that is large and complex. Big data analytics help companies understand customer perspective better by collecting, gathering and analyzing data. It is an opportunity for the companies to make better business decisions which will improve the products and increase customer satisfaction and customer base. This sector is now booming because of its true transformative power of businesses across the globe. Big data analytics empowers the businesses with a better understanding of their customers and help them make valuable improvements which contributes to the society.
Big Data is a cost effective storage which can help you reduce the overall costs. So you have to make sure you have a proper storage system in order to store your large data. It is extremely expensive to store these scale of data on your existing rdms, for example- oracle database. Any normal rdms would be very time consuming and would cause increase in data traffic. Adapting new technology to store this data and process it in a better time effective way, your organization needs to adapt new technology along with the existing rdms, which is big data analytics. Using the big data analytic tools along with the existing system, you can process the big data and regular data more effectively and in a time effective manner. When the data are segregated properly, it makes it easier to analyze it better.
Big data is large scale of data which is very complex and cannot be handled by existing systems of companies. In order to process and utilize the large scale of data, analytic tools can play huge part. Through big data analytics, companies can process the data smoothly, which will be time and cost effective for them too.
Our flagship financial inclusion product, MicroFin360 NEXT includes numerous functionalities for MFIs to use and assess customers, and predictive algorithm is one of the primary reason that the assessment has been made possible. The tool ‘i-credit’ was developed to assess and create a rating system for loans and the beneficiaries. By using predictive algorithm on the historical data of transactions, the rating system for beneficiaries would provide a clear picture of their credit worthiness for further loans. Similarly, the loan rating system works by assessing geo locations and other exposure of risks
In Microfin360 NEXT, Big Data has played a great part in unlocking great potentials in functionalities. By using the Big Data, loans are rated and classified into their appropriate section to help keep track of Non Performing Loans, sections are categorized by Unclassified, SMA, Sub-standard, Doubtful and Bad. Other useful functionalities of Big Data analysis of MicroFin360 include: Geo-wise Loan disbursement ratio, transaction and cash variance, Age-wise loan default rate, duplicate member identification and many more.
